This monument in Châteauneuf-du-Pape has been guarded for over a century by the Brunier family. The history of the estate began in 1891 when Henri Brunier gave his son an uncultivable plot of rolled pebbles.
The said plot is located on Crau. Hippolyte nevertheless plants a few vines there because the plateau had a wine-growing vocation in the 14th century. It is also there that a relay tower was installed by the inventor of the optical telegraph. Then Jules, Hippolyte's son, plants more vines. Little by little, the estate grew to around 17 hectares. It was then named Le Vieux Télégraphe. Then, after the Second World War, his son Henri gave new impetus to the estate. The estate's vines are on average 60 years old.
This vintage is also available in white wine, it is the Crau white wine Le Vieux Télégraphe.

LA RVF 2*/3: “The splendid pebbles of the Crau, a warm terroir, are at the origin of the typicality of the wines of Vieux Télégraphe. The estate produces a unique, great vintage. » regularity.
Bettane + Dessauve 4*/5: “One of the major wines of the appellation. [...] The red is one of the most complete of the appellation, in a style expertly developed by the Bruniers, which does not favor power despite the generosity in alcohol, but on the contrary balance and refinement. Breathtaking fineness of texture, magnificent material, perfectly ripe fruit, with this crazy impression of obviousness. The evidence of a great wine, plus tenderness. A model for everyone. The vintage is at the top of its game. »
96-98/100 - Jeb Dunnuck: “This Châteauneuf du Pape 2019, the flagship vintage of this reference estate, presents itself with a denser ruby/purple color as well as superb notes of smoked red and black fruits, crushed stones, peppery garrigue and truffle soil. Hitting the palate with full-bodied richness, it remains tight and compact, with tremendous mid-palate depth, a focused and structured palate and a very nice finish. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf du Pape from the Brunier family that will benefit from over 5 to 7 years of bottle age and an overall longevity of over 30 years. »
