Louis Jadot Château des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos des Thorins
Moulin à Vent “ Château des Jacques ” is a red wine produced by the Louis Jadot trading house .
Le Moulin à Vent is one of the ten Beaujolais crus , which are appellations of controlled origin (AOC) recognized for the quality of their wines.
Moulin à Vent is considered one of the most robust and richest in tannins of Beaujolais. Wines from this appellation are often characterized as being closer to Burgundy wines than to Beaujolais wines, due to their structure and aromatic complexity .
Moulin-à-Vent is a structured wine, particularly velvety and tender on the palate. With its dark ruby color, it releases aromas of iris, wilted roses, spices and ripe fruit.
The Jadot House:
Around thirty years is the time it took Louis Henri Denis Jadot to found the House in 1859 and establish the values of a family business. It was by developing the wine trade towards the markets of Northern Europe that he already contributed to the reputation of Burgundy wines at the time. Subsequently, several generations will succeed one another at the head of the family business.
The vines are planted on granite and clay-limestone soils, which give the wine a beautiful minerality and a certain aromatic complexity. The vines have an average age of 50 years, which contributes to the concentration of aromas and flavors in the wine.
The vinification of Moulin à Vent “Château des Jacques” is done in the traditional way, with cold pre-fermentation maceration for several days, followed by alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for around 12 months, which gives it a certain complexity and woody aromas.
Storage: Wine for great aging, very distinguished, it can age for 10-15 years or even 20 depending on the vintages and storage conditions. Carafing strongly recommended.
